I have spent the most part of today de-cluttering, clearing and clearing out 2 of our 3 bedrooms... started first off with the kids room, which wasn't too bad as I did a massive clean only a few weeks ago... just a lot of rubbish and things that just needed to be put away. here's the results... not too many toys are in here, most are downstairs in a wicker-drawer sideboard thingy under the stiars since they mostly play downstairs or outside.

Then I moved onto the spare room, which we use as an office/craft room. Since we moved here 8 months ago I have hardly created anything in this room, it always felt so un-inspiring and I just didn't want to be up here away form everything. I tried to remedy this by moving all my craft stuff (or the most used things) down to the dining room (which really is very small - it's just an alcove off the breakfast bar) That worked for a while but didn't take me long to get sick of the kids getting into everything and always wanted to paint whenever I sat down! SO today I took on the task of clearing all the junk out, vacuuming all the collected dust (gosh it's dusty up in the Top End - quite incredible!) and then bought all my craft stuff back upstairs...here's what it looks like now.

the desk... sewing machine set up on left and crafting area on the right. so loving the light from the window and as we are up so high and facing south from here we get the most spectacular breeze through the open window. I am going to fill that wall above the sewing machine with all sorts of art... just need a trip to Bunnings for some hooks! (do you like my attempt at comfy seating? lol. really need a new office chair!)

the area behind - to the left of the desk... hubbys study shelf, the filing cabinet (which is great height to keep paper drawers I don't want kids getting into) and the change table and isaac's clothes... no room in kids room for that!

album storage, light box and my big sideboard / credenza with pigeon holes... so love this! it's a bit of a mess at the moment, that's on my list to do this week! too tired now! I keep all sorts of scrapping things in the pigeon holes, mostly stuff I need out of kids reach like stamps, inks, paints, photos etc

Feeling very inspired to create now, which is the result I was hoping for as I'm about to launch my own home-based business... going to be making a whole bunch of things to be sold on http://www.madeit.com.au/ Really looking forward to it. Have almost got my logo and banners etc all worked out and then will get to work creating! Stay tuned!

my Darwin Show entries...

Have been pretty busy this week getting things ready to enter into the Royal Darwin Show... of course I leave it to the last minute don't I?! Good excuse though, lol... had to pay entry fees on last day of school last term and deliver entries 1st day of school this term so had 4 weeks of school hols to get it done! ie no me time!!

Anyway, we went along today and had a ball and found out I won first prize in one of the categories! So happy, it was my fave layout plus I spent freaking hours stitching that flourish in the corner!! Won $15 cash prize...

Here's a few others I did - didn't get anything for these, never mind, maybe next time :)

Was a little bit disappointed not to get a plce for these cards but only because I spent soooooo long stiching those frames, lol.

it has been a long time since I last updated here.. been hanging out too much on Facebook, lol. I have been doing some scrapping... not a whole lot but perhaps a few pages each week, just whenever I feel like it. It has been nice to have no pressure and just create when I like. No photos of anything though, but I will! I am also working on something else.... here's a little teaser of something I have 'cooking'... any guesses? Is anyone still reading after such a long MIA period?

OMG what a long drought that was... with everything that went on in late 2009 I lost my mojo. Think it might have been packed somewhere when we moved house just before xmas, then we went interstate for 3 weeks and since we've been back life has been a tad chaotic. Anyway last night I decided enough was enough and scrapped the few photos I had laying around... here's the results.

This first one is of Leroy at 6.5 months (so cute!) and my SIL Aretha... the kids call her Aunty Reefa!

This is my grandparents (my mum's parents) He passed away 3 years after this was taken.. he was 48 and I was 7 years old. We have very few photos of him so when we recenty found a little plate from Dreamworld with this photo on it we were very happy! I miss her terribly too - she has been gone for 7 years now. The saddest thing about her young passing (she was 69) was that she never got to hold her great-grandchildren. I don't say 'see' as I do feel her presence a lot still :)

Off to Harvery Norman shortly to get some photos printed - I've been bitten by the scrap bug again! happy dancing here! Back soon...

the heavens opened wide!! as a result of the tropical cyclone and extreme low off the north coast of Darwin we have been experiencing VERY heavy rain for over 24 hours. I don't think, having come from drought affected areas, that I will EVER get used to sheer volume of rain that comes from these Top End skies. It is AMAZING! (and of course when I went outside to take these photos the rain subsides - but you can see how wet it is. look at that grass!!! 2 months ago it was brown and dead and too crunchy to walk on!!)

We have had a very busy day today anyway... Leroy and I were out the door at 8.30 this morning and I dragged him along to Target were I spurlged and bought myself a new pair of shorts, a t-shirt, 3 singlets and 2 sets of summer PJ's and a maternity bra, oh and a funky pair of summer thongs. spent $160 on that lot but darn happy wiht that! :) After the shopping spree (which I did in less than 45 mins, go me!! lol) we went off to the movies to see Cloudy with a chance of Meatballs for a kids bday party. Was ok, but totally WEIRD too. (and I tell ya the weather here is cloudy with a chance of meatballs right now, rofl) After that came home for a quick bite to eat and hubby took the boys to go pick up his sister and I went and got some xmas photos printed of my baby nephew for my SIL and got my eyebrows waxed, then rushed down to do the pre-settlement inspection of our new house! OMG it's so close now!!!! And right now I'm taking a little quiet breather while all the boys take hubby's sister back into Darwin, then I'm off to frock up for hubby's xmas party tonight (in a spunky red dress I bought last night)! All this in amoungst trying to pack boxes. Am hoping and praying that the rain subsides over the next day or 2 - don't fancy trying to move house in the heavy rain.

I am running on empty. I am so tired and worn out from everything going on and I need some time out! Thinking of saying bugger the budget tonight and taking myself off for a pedicure (as well as a brow wax) before hubby's work xmas party tomorrow night.

Turns out Leroy is quite unwell - he went to school fine yesterday but last night woke up crying in pain. Took him to the after hours service at about 10.30pm and he has a middle ear infection. He's been on the AB's since Monday though so it's a bit odd, the when he woke up this morning he was totally fine (said it didn't hurt at all) and said he wanted to go to school for the last day. So I've sent him off with strict instructions for them to call me if anything is wrong. Only a few minutes drive away so that's good. But I'm sure he's fine (well hoping anyway othewise I'll have Mother Guilt as well on top of everything else!)

So that leaves me home with the little terror who has certainly had his cranky pants on this morning - took him grocery shopping and spent half the time trying to stop him eating every chocolate in sight (this kid is a chocoholic!!) that I forgot half the things I needed and will have to go back with both kids later on! arrgghhh!! I got a bit spooked last night after we had a severe thunderstorm and then I noticed there was a cyclone watch warning present out at sea north of Darwin - they don't think it will come this way but you just never know. And I realised we were totally un-prepared if one did hit. So went and bought a stack of non-perishable food items and put them in a big tub and will be hitting Bunnings ASAP for some other things like torches, masking tape (to tape windows) etc etc. We got through our first wet season here last year by not really doing any of this (and we were lucky there was not even a cyclone watch) but obviously we need to get ready! Actually the big slogan here is 'GET READY, GET THRU' & 'BE PREPARED, NOT COMPLACENT' so that's what I'm doing!

Now what I WAS going to blog about today is the fact that today would have been my grandmothers 75th birthday. I wanted to share photos but I discovered hubby has packed them! She passed away on 31st March, 2003 aged 68. She was way too young. She had a severe degeneration of her brain stem - it was very sad. She got sick very quickly but the most tragic thing was that she knew in her head what was going on, and who everyone was, and what she wanted to do, she just had no control over it. 15 years ago today I was on an air-plane flying to Hawaii with her... she took me there to celebrate finishing year 12. We left the day after my year 12 formal and her 60th birthday lasted only a few hours mid air as we flew across the internation date line. I miss her every day and am so sad that she was never around to see my beautiful babies. Not that I don't believe she knows. I believe with all my heart that she knows all about them. I have had a few experiences since she passed. When I was about 3 months pregnant with Leroy I had a very vivid dream - it was Dawn (that's what we called her) telling me I would have a baby girl called Isabella Dawn. From that day on I was certain he would be a girl, even ignoring the little tell-tale sign on the scan. She had only been passed for around 6 months at this stage. When he was born I just dismissed the dream and loved my baby boy. Then one night when I was up feeding him at about 4 or 5 months, I felt like I could feel her. When I went back to sleep I dreamt about her and about her beautiful gold watch (one of her fave things was to shop for jewellery in her travels to places like Hong Kong, Singapore etc)... and she was telling me in the dream to look at her watch. I woke up feeling as though she was telling me to stop holding onto her so much - it was her time to go. I cried and cried, especially as I just wanted my mum but she was in France.

When Leroy was about 18 months I got pregnant again and I had another dream with her telling me that I would get my Isabella Dawn. I lost this baby at 6 weeks. Another 18 months passed before I got pregant again and I also lost that one to an ectopic pregnancy - I really felt after all of that that I did indeed get my girls... of course there is no scientific proof to any of that or whether the babies I lost were in fact girls (as it was way to early to tell) It's just what I felt.

Last night I felt her again. At 3.20am the phone rang. It is right next to my side of the bed and I got it on the 2nd ring. When I answered there was only a dial tone, like I'd picked it up to ring someone. I could feel her immmediately - I cannot explain it but I know she is looking over me. Oh how I miss her :( I Love you Dawn xx

Here's another chrissy card I found I did the other day that I hadn't photographed, love it too. I've saved it to send to my friend here who lives in the same townhouse complex we are moving into! Exciting! (too tired to work out side-ways images now but you get idea!)

Had grand plant to make marvellous teacher pressies but just totally ran out of time. Settled instead for a lovely bowl filled with chocolates and candy canes, wrapped in a chrissy tea towel and secured with a ribbon holiding a tree deco that Leroy chose (he always chooses this one - he likes to give his lady teachers diamonds, lol)

we had a surprise visit this arvo from my 2 SIL's and gorgeous baby Jake. It's the first time we've seen him out of hospital and he is just divine! Leroy asked if we could keep him! isn't he just delicious?

Here's the last of my chrissy cards - I made these in front of the telly, not something I normally do but I wanted to watch Willie's wonky chocolate factory on ABC2 - was good too :) happy with how they turned out - maybe I shouldn't concentrate so hard in future, lol ;)

this one uses recycled chocolate wrappers from a christmas chocolate tree I bought for the kids from Coles - I went to keep the wrapeprs and was busy smoothing them out. Isaac was going mental at me and whining - I was thinking... geez you have chocolate and you are still whining!! then I worked out he was saying 'BIN, BIN!!!' he was getting cranky at me cause I wasn't putting the rubbish in the bin!! rofl. I pretended to put it in there, he was happy and went off and enjoyed his chocloate and I got some cute metal wrappers for a card, lol

The metal 'shim' is the metal from inside a milo tin, simply run through the Cuttlebug. looks cool huh?

I am enjoying the quiet house right now as Isaac sleeps and Leroy is at school. Wasn't going to send him as he has a nasty cough but the Transition classes are having their xmas party today - took him to the dr and she said he's fine to go to school, just needs AB's and rest at home (after school that is) He's not contagious to other kids, so he's gone off to enjoy party food and xmas craft at school for a few hours while I get my head around what else I need to do this week!! eekk!!

Last night I addressed all those chrissy cards and discovered I was about a half dozen or so short, so made more! I found Kerryn's step x step for this weeks 52 pick up challenge and used that to make thse 2 cards. I am so stoked how they came out and I know the recipients will love them :)

Another open house here this arvo so better go do some darn tidying (again!!)

I have got a rather sick big boy. AGAIN! we both were all sick just 10 days ago and now he's unwell again. He woke up last night with a very hig temp - not sure how high but he felt VERY hot. Will be taking him to the drs this morning and requesting AB's this time. No doubt Isaac (and probably me too) will get it again as well since they love each other so much - hopefully we have a day of this...

this was taken last night before bed - and just before isaac's shower ;) think I might have a couple of basketball players on my hands?? look at the size of those feet!! lol

I was 'miss craft teacher' for the morning today. Some kids are so funny - most of them call me Tash or Leroy's mum but didn't quite know what to call me since I was in class teaching them, lol. One kid even kept calling me Miss.

SO this is what we did... I pre-cut the paper to size and drew a triangle shape on the back for them to cut out. I also pre-embossed 2 of the 4 shapes, then they got to do the other 2 in class, would have run out of time otherwise. Then I let them play with some leftover bling sheets I had and some kindy glitz - they were all tops and so interested except for one kid who just swung on his chair, complained and made a mess with the kindy glitz - always one isn't there!

And this one is Leroy's. Notice how it looks quite different to the others?? He was being a bit over excited and a bit of a smarty pants that it was HIS mum teaching them, that he said 'well I can do mine with the spare bits' (read: offcuts after they cut out the triangles) I just left him to it, lol. He had after all done it all before, lol.

The kids all loved it, and were just amazed by the Cuttlebug as I knew they would be. One kid even told me, I quote "We've just had a little chat and worked out that it's not magic like you said, it's because when the paper goes through those silver rollers it gets squashed in between that thing with the pattern on it, that's what makes the pattern. we don't think it's magic like you said" I had to contain myself not to ROFL!!!! hee, hee, hee :)

On the countdown now till settlement day on our new house - 7 days till we get the keys. Me thinks we better get moving with the packing!!!!

it's finally beginning to look and feel a lot like christmas. Despite my card making marathon, I have been living in denial that chrissy is virtually upon us. But could do that no more yesterday with Leroy excitedly telling me all day that it was only 20 days till Christmas and tomorrow it'll only be 19!!

We went and bought a new tree and some lights all to be put up before anything else is unpacked in the new house I'm sure, lol. Leroy will see to that.

Last night I went through the decos to see what we had (amazing how you forget one year to the next isn't it?) and added to the box these gorgeous handmade hearts that I bought from Cottontails Baby - they are just divine and I can't wait to hang them somewhere.

PS I know I said I'd introduce you to Big Brother Ducky (yet to be re-named) today but it was too risky trying to get a photo of him before Leroy gets him.

I am feeling rather weary after my chrissy card making marathon of the last few days.... I have made over 50 cards in 3 days!! :0 Here's a close look at some of the ones I made yesterday using the new things I bought (almost all gone now less than 24 hours after I got it, lol)

Here's the ones using the Kaiser Craft Christmas Carnival range - oh how I love this - the bright colours and cute little graphics really do it for me.

I also did a couple of cards using the tags from the packaging - love how they turned out too...

This week we received the new 'Ducky' (more about him 2moro) and in the parcel was some gorgeous vintage looking tags that Charlotte from Cottontails Baby had very kindly included - she must have known I'd put them to good use!! This is what I did - my first attempt at a real vintage looking card. And it won't be my last, thanks so much Charlotte.

I've been scrap shopping!! Has been a long time (and don't tell hubby, lol) Here's what I bought... some of this is for the scrap prize pack but not telling yet which bits, you'll have to wait and see. (hmmm, thought I'd seen the end of sideways images!)

Also made a stack more cards yesterday - decided to give myself a total day off from all the packing / organising / phone calls etc etc and just play all day. I even put Isaac in front of the TV for most of the day (guilt free - I needed it!) watching Thomas the Tank Engine - he loved it. Have now got a stash of about 35 cards I think and many more still to come out of my head, lol! Here's some of what I did yesterday...

Also beginning to wonder if I'll ever get a nice photo of the kids to include with the chrissy cards (or in place of the cards for the relos I know won't really appreciate getting a handmade one)... not sure that my Nan would appreciate this!

One can only dream that I would get a repeat of last years gorgeous effort....

on the 3rd day of christmas...

Well today I am just enjoying the sunshine through the windows (and the aircon inside!!) and enjoying the fact that the house is so darn clean after my cleaning marathon yesterday arvo... check out the kids rooms - wonder how long they'll stay this way. I can guarantee not long as we'll be packing a lot of their things over the weekend.

And have a look what I found right outside our front door yesterday arvo - no little birdies or eggs though, hope they come back.

Might even get in a spot of scrapping in while the little man is asleep today but in the meantime here's a layout I did ages ago - this is what the sky looks like again every afternoon - I seriously love it. When I was a kid we lived on a banana farm on the top of a mountain - from our front verandah you could see all the way out to sea. I remember sitting there watching massive storms roll in. Love it. The kids not so much - and I must admit the amount of noise the thunder makes here does make even me jump right out of my skin!

On Monday next week I am going in to Leroy's class to do some xmas craft with them - here's sneek peak of what we are doing. I am taking in my Cuttllebug for them to use - under strict supervision, lol. I know they'll get a kick out of it as Leroy just loves it!

the heavens opened up in the Top End! we have had a very wet, stormy start to the day... the first wet start to the day so far this Wet Season - usually they are late afternoon storms. A quick pic taken out my back door this morning...

Last night was the chrissy concert - here's a couple of pics of the kids dressed up ready to go... one cheeky little boy here, lol

.... I am very happy that my mojo has returned! I have been busy making chrissy cards. and also loving that something has come from nothing. or what I thought was nothing anyway. I was thinking I would not be able to make many cards as I didn't have much in the way of xmas PP and didn't want to buy anymore. BUT I manged to un-earth a stash of it, plus I bought the Kaiser mag that had all the freebie cutouts in the back - perfect for cards!

this is the result so far - I'll just keep going till I run out of stuff!

these are my faves so far... very simple but just something about these ones that I love

tonight we are off to Leroy's school chrissy concert - looking forward to getting some cute photos of the kids to send with the cards. have a look at my big little boy wearing his super cute outfit... I may be biased but I don't think they come much cuter than that!

woohoo!! I scrapped!! I was beginning to get really worried there for a while, I have not scrapped for ages. Can't even remember when. It's probably been about 2-3 months!!!!!! :0 But had a huge clean of my scrap stash, sold a pile of stuff I don't use at our yard sale over the weekend, RAK'd a heap more and in all of that found my mojo lurking! Not layout yet but that's ok... I have a gazzillion photos I need to sort and get printed, but that will come in the New Year when I actually time to sit down and sort them all out!

I signed up to the LSBS Kris Kringle swap - that's what got me going. I'm really happy with my little gift too... here's a little sneak peak.

we found ducky!!!

Well we have one very happy little boy here tonight. His daddy found his beloved ducky while clearing out the big wardrobe... perhaps if I had actually turned the house upside down when I was looking for him like I said I did, then ducky would have fallen from the top of the wardrobe. don't ask me what he was doing up there... obviously got thrown up there!

In a few days time we will have a big brother for Ducky arriving from the UK, lol!!

I have to admit I was just as sad as Leroy that he went missing - I want to keep Ducky forever! When Mathew pulled him out, I'm such a dag, I had tears in my eyes! ;)

what a nice end to a very busy day.... have updated my to-do list as well (see below), almost there!!

me a domestic goddess? rofl. hardly. I am going totally mental at the moment... me and both kids have been unwell this week. we are so busy it's unsane... our house is open for inspection tomorrow so I've been trying to tidy up for that. no sooner do I clean something it's dirty again. I kid you not. I just not 5 mins ago took everything off Leroys room floor and vacuumed and now it's covered in toys. arrrgggghhhh!! granted it is just the contents of the dress ups box so yes it could be worse (and nope I'm not going to test them as beleive me, it will probably get worse!) but honestly, can't it stay clean for 6 mins??!! we are also having a huge yard sale 2moro selling heaps of things, have done a massive clean out. feels good. or well it will when all the stuff is gone and all I have to show for it is a wad of $$$.

my to-do list for today was as follows: (have marked off what I have managed to get done)

* ~~clean bathroom~~
* ~~vacuum floors~~
* mop floors (will be done after kids go to bed - I'm smart there, lol)
* ~~clean visible marks from wall.~~ that's the whole freaking house!
* ~~clean out big wardrobe~~ (this is a job for hubby, most of the things need packing in boxes) we are selling the wardrobe
* ~~clean highchair~~
* ~~fix vertical blinds~~
* ~~sort out ribbons and buttons for yard sale~~ they look so cute all sorted into baggies in colours - why aren't I this organised with stuff I want to keep?
* ~~get coins for yard sale~~
* ~~email mathew page to print out for yard sale~~
* ~~clean lounge~~
* Fold up washing

I have also made 2 trips to the shops for things I keep forgetting and numerous loads of washing. As you can see all the big jobs have not been done. Looks like I'll be having a late night tonight. Give me strength, give me strength!

Well I still have done no scrapping and I think I might not until well into the new year - just too much else going on. (I am going to make some cards tho - need a stack of thank you cards plus our xmas cards) ANYWAY, today Leroy had to go to school dressed up as an alien. They have been doing a unit of work this term about Space and today was just a fun day for them. SO this is what we came up with...

For the top I took an old T-shirt from his cupboard and glued pom-poms all over it with Power Pritt gel (handy stuff that!) and also did little 'eyes' all over it with blobs of Kindy Glitz. Also made the collar out of stiff felt and stapled the tulle fabric on (which Leroy chose himself from Spotlight - he thought it looked like alien eyes) and then added some leftover Fozzfelt to finish it.

Pretty pleased with himself don't you think? :)

He then decided that it would be better to wear the hat backwards as he already had his own eyes at the front to see things, lol. He thought how useful it would be to see behind him. :)

Gotta love pipe-cleaners.

He had a great day and was still wearing the shirt when I picked him up even though I gave him a replacement :)

we are moving house!!

yep we are moving again!! less than 6 months since last time.... but this time we are moving into our very own home! no more renting!! woohoo!! has been a long road to get here but it's all good. so 26 sleeps till the settle date, and a massive to do list to get thru before then (including selling some furniture so if you are in Darwin area or know anyone who is let me know!!)

Here is a few pics I pinched off the web of our new home :) it's a 3 bedroom townhouse with open plan living/dining/kitchen opening out to a courtyard on the ground floor and upstairs has 3 bedrooms (main with WIR & ensuite) plus the main bathroom of course. First thing I'll be doing it getting new window furnishings for the whole house :)

poor old ducky

We are a bit sad in our house now... my mum bought Leroy a special little cheeping duck toy from french toy maker Moulin Roty for his first birthday. He has adored him ever since. He has been mended many, many times, given haircuts, and mended some more just so Leroy could continue to love him. About 3 or 4 weeks ago he went missing. The sad thing is Leroy was throwing him around being a naughty 5 year old boy and now we can't find him anywhere. I know this is very odd me talking about a toy like he's a member of the family, but frankly he is!! ;)

Leroy is beside himself at the moment, crying himself to sleep most nights worrying about Ducky. Some nights he thinks Ducky ran away because he has been so naughty :( then we talked about that maybe Ducky went to visit Santa to get fixed up like all those broken toys on the Polar Express train. We have also talked about that maybe, just maybe, Ducky went away to grow up into a bigger boy just like Leroy. (This is my desperate attempt to have him love a new one when I buy one - the original one is no longer available)

Oh the things we do!

Please come home Ducky!! we miss you!!

Today is our 7th wedding anniversary. Here's a few piccies from our big day...weren't we looking hot?? lol :)

here's me just before the ceremony - this was not a posed shot, I just looked over my shoulder at the photographer and he snapped this. one of my very fave photos from the day, just love the little peek of my shoes.

and the newlyweds just after the ceremony... made for a good photo but I thought I was going to blow off that boardwalk into the water!!

and our wedding cake that my very clever hubby made.... it was yummy choc mud cake, we make it every now and then still.

I still have not scrapped our wedding photos but maybe might get time to do that in the New Year (and sorry for the dodgy shots here - these are photos of photos, it was pre-digital!)

out of wild blue yonder I emerge...

wow I have been MIA for yonks haven't I? well all is good in the Top End. the reason for falling of the face of the earth was my pc died and it toook 3 weeks to be repaired in syd by manufacture then 4 days after I got it back it dies again (same problem - good repair job hey??!!) but got it repaired locally this time. just got it back yesterday.

SO lots going on here.... here's a breif look at my life over the last 2 months
* I made the very decision to resign from my DT position at LSBS. I totally lost the passion to scrap at all and really just needed to take a step back. Was a wonderful 2+ years on the team and I will miss it but also really looking forward to just scrapping for me.
* I also have resigned from my spot at the ARTastic challenge blog for all the same reasons.
* We have been madly house hunting for a few months now - looking to buy our very first home. We finally found a lovely townhouse within our budget and fingers crossed the finance will all be approved by the end of next week for settlement mid dec - so all moved in by xmas!!!
* kids are well - crazy busy as usual but well. both are enjoying their mumma who has so much more time for them now. can't believe I put sitting in front of the PC before my kids for so long (hanging head in shame)
* hubby is busy at work but doing really well, so well that he is now going full time up here. we will re-assess in 2 years and decide whether to head back south then. but for now the top end is home and we love it! even the heat!!!!!
* I have not scrapped for a couple of months now... starting to feel the niggles of wanting to again. must get some new photos sorted.
* have done re-think of my weight loss will update my weight loss blog in a tick (which I'm going to make public now)
* my SIL who lives up here had a gorgeous baby boy called Jake on Nov 4th. he's divine :)
* I have gone gluten-free after months of not feeling great (read: crap!!) and I feel great as a result. have cut my pain meds in half!!!!!!!!!!! so awesome!!!!!!!!!

my creative little man

With the imminent start of the school holidays upon us I've been giving a little thought about what quiet activities Leroy and I can do while Isaac has his sleep each day. (The rest of the time will no doubt be spent going to the Water Park etc etc!!) It reminded me of these fantastic cards Leroy and I made together a while back now... he just loves the Cuttlebug and runs lots and lots and things thru it whenever he gets the chance. The day we did these he had a wonderful idea to add some colour to the embossed surface so set to work with some paint and a foam brush. Once dry we cut them up and make these simple but colourful cards! Cool huh?

If anyone has any tips or links to cool blogs who do craft for kids please leave me a link here. Thanks!

ETA: I also tought I would share what I have done with a lot of Leroy's school craft. We all gets stacks of things home I know and I for one feel very guilty about chucking it away, especially when I finally get the guts to do it only to have Leroy see it in the recycling bin, lol! So when we moved house I photographed everything he had in his room - heaps of heaps of 3D things he had made at preschool (they did a unit of work all about australian animals) Then I cut out the photos and popped them onto a layout. There - memory recorded! (and the originals in the bin one day while he was not looking!!) Will definately be doing this again. And it made Leroy's day when he saw I had dedicated a whole layout to his artwork (and he didn't even ask where the 'real' ones where) :)

How many times have I changed my blog design now? I've lost count. But I have FINALLY found one I love and that isn't too over-powering. Have spent the whole evening tonight fiddling around and adding in little things - see the cute little 'signs' over there -------> love them! And see the 'lace' sign off below the post - love that too - spent a lot less time than I would have thought doing that thanks to this fantastic and easy to understand tutorial on the Shabby Blogs blog (lol)

a visit from the Tooth Fairy

My big boy has lost his first tooth! I was out with my SIL on Sat arvo and he had his Daddy call me so he could excitedly tell me over the phone that his tooth was wobbly. That piece of news certainly could not wait till I returned home, lol. So a few days of wobbling it and being so excited about it all, (a couple of his friends have recently lost teeth) it finally came out last night while he was eating a honey sandwich. He was so excited. So darn cute!! So here's a bit of a pictorial of the events...

and me and leroy having a photo just before bed... just after this photo he made me open his bedroom window so the Tooth Fairy could get in, lol.

THEN he woke at 4am wanting to come into our bed. when we got him back into huis bed he remembered about the tooth fairy and was delighted to find $2 in place of the tooth PLUS a new toothbrush and some kids minty toothpaste (we think the reason she gave him this is becasue he has until now refused to use mint toothpaste - even kids mild mint, so we have to buy this expensive berry flavoured one. but this morning he used the mint one and said it was fine! phew!

and talk about inflation, lol. I would have been lucky to have gotten 10cents. Last night when he was aasking about what she would bring I said it might be a gold coin if he was lucky. He's been learning all about bigger numbers at school (like 20, 30, 40, 50 etc) and he says 'maybe she might give me a 50 dollar, hey mum?' I said oh no that's too much and it won't fit in the little tin. His response was 'but it can fold up really small and then it will fit' he's resourseful, I'll give him that, lol (I should mention he has no idea how much money $5 or $50 is - just cause he's been learning these numbers)

and look what we found on the window sill under the blinds... a sprinkling of fairy dust... so special ;)

This month over at the ARTastic challenge blog we are featuring Kandinsky and his painting titled, 'On White II'

This is my interpratation of the challenge. I was inspired by the colours in the Kandinsky painting (although mine has turned out a bit brighter than the painting) and also by the general layout which I drew a rough version of and used as a sketch for my layout. A vague resemblence I think, lol. Also added in some thick black doodling to connect it back to the painting.

Make sure you head on over and check out the rest of the DT layouts. There have also been quite a number of awesome entries already uploaded. So good to see that everyone is loving the concept.

I finally have some mojo again (thank goodness - was getting a bit worried there for a while) Have been playing with a DT kit from LSBS and am LOVING it. Will be sharing soon.

And I also just wanted to share this super gorgeous photo of my beautiful boys taken a couple of weeks ago outside Leroy's classroom. They just adore each other, and I think you can really see it here. BIt spesh aren't they? I know I'm a bit biased but.......

Sorry have been so quiet here of late - life is crazy!! Have been car hunting (which sux when you can't find what you want, then you think you find it only to have it mechanically inspected and be told by your trusted mechanic it's no good!! argh! having another one tested 2moro, so fingers crossed this will be the one and hopefully will pick up over weekend.)

Also had hubby's birthday on sat and lots of other stuff going on!

(They were $12 when I first saw them and didn't order them...not quite sure what they would be like, but when I saw it was still there and there were two I took it as a sign. rofl, talk about talk yourself inot buying something!!) hehe...
Also got a pile of other stuff too... love having just a teensy bit of money to spend on myself and scrap supplies (nothing has changed except for priorities). Speaking of money... in just over 12 months the 4th annual LSBS retreat is on in Sydney. And I am going!! woohoo!! I also had to set this weeks 52 Pick Up challenge at so took the opportunity to have everyone make a scrap stash cash tin... here's mine...

Wow the year is just flying by isn't it? This weekend is the 3rd Annual Little Scrapbook Shop retreat on at Merroo. For those that can't go we are organising a Claytons Retreat, which is always heaps of fun! Hope you can joins us, there will be heaps of fun & games and not to mention challenges! Lots of challenges! Oh and prizes, don't forget the prizes - they are tops too!

here's a couple of recent creations....
heaps more to come soon as I've been doing some shopping the last few days. Now just gotta wait for it all to arrive, that's the hard bit isn't it? (oh and hoping the postie arrives sometime when hubby isn't here, lol)

no idea why I get these sideways images but it ticks me off. have tried making the pics smaller but it ain't working today!

no RAK today (SORRY!) had a bit of a busy day and then ended up having to rush Leroy up to the Drs complaining of sever ear pain. Turns out he has Tonisillitis and inflamed ear drums... so YET ANOTHER round of anti-biotics for him. better get him eating some good yoghurt I think!

While we were up there waiting for his scripts I thought we'd pop in to Woolies and get a few things for dinner. I was just about done and Leroy says he needs to do a poo. I told him ok, go to the girls toilet and I'll be right there (just needed to go thru express lane checkout and could see the entrance to the loo from wehre I was standing) Anyway so I'm just going there after paying and almost run into this girl in the door and she asks if that's my kid in there as he's in there crying. Tuned out he made it to the cubicle but didn't manage to get his pants off and did wee & poo in his undies and school pants - made a big mess. He was so embarressed, the poor thing. I had no clothes for him so had to get him to sit naked except for his shirt in the pram with a magazine folded over his lap. He was so mortified that someone would see him. TYhis is the child who won't even go swimming without a rash shirt on incase someone see him so you just imaging how he felt. Luckily we didn't see anyone he knew after this but there were a couple of young boys looking and pointing at him in the chemist and I just wanmted to scoop him in my arms and protect him like he was a baby (not much chance of that at 24.5kg)

We were glad to get home that's for sure!

been a long time. oops. well we are still here, lol. all moved into our new house, which BTW is just TOPS. was a great time for us to move. been very quiet on the scrapping front the last couple of weeks as I've been having a HUGE de-clutter as we've gone into a smaller house and I must say I'm loving being in a smaller house. less space for the kids to mess up and less to clean. but also just loving the more simple approach. 'tis a very nice house too with a fab outdoor area, that helps keep me and the kids sane. also has some gorgeous feature walls which I'm planning on doing a photo shoot of the kids in front of. we are just finishing week 3 of our 4 week mid-semester break here in the NT, it's been nice having Leroy around, he and Isaac have been loving each others company (with a bit of fighting and bickering thrown in for good measure - wouldn't be brothers otherwise would they?!) So next week is the last week and Mathew has a few more days off and we are going to play tourist around Darwin and do some stuff - have done not much at all yet, been kept busy participating in the great school holiday program at the local library.
my new scrap space in the new house is awesome too! now just to find my mojo... might be packed away some where I think?? just hope I didn't throw it out with all the de-cluttering ;) I'm sure I'll find it this weekend as I simply MUST as I need to prepare a layout and challenge for our CC at LSBS next weekend!

When I first saw this months artist over on the ARTastic challenge blog (Picasso and the painting,The three musicians) I was immediately inspired by the colours in the painting... the browns & blues, with the touches of white, orange, yellow & black. I happened to have a 'musical' photo in my photo storage box that fit the colours I wanted to use perfectly - thanks to Leroy's pre-school shirt! I've used American Crafts Craft Fair range of PP - just love those little owls. To carry on the music theme I pinched a section of music out of one of hubby's old music mags - was already nice & discoloured - love how this looks. Here 'tis...

We are in full getting-ready-to-move-house mode!! Had a yard sale today and got rid of heaps of stuff which always feels good. Have the packers arriving on Wednesday, then removalists on Thursday so a busy week ahead. I'll see you back here on the other side of the move - hope I'm not without net for too long! finally, after a rather stressful week, we have found our new home. we will be moving next thursday to a lovely 3br home (this means I will no longer have a separate craft room) it's not far from where we live now - actually the position is better as it's only a 2 min walk to the park and around 10min to school. Leroy is very excited about riding his bike - will make me get off my craft butt again, lol.

onto the scrapping... a week or so ago I got a FANTASTIC DT kit from LSBS... I've been working my butt off all week to get everything done before we move as by the time I get my space worked out in the house I'll probably have next months kit to do as well :) here's some of what I've uploaded so far... but have a heap more to show too, will be back soon with that.

hmmm more sideways photos!!! grrrr....

when it rains, it pours

arrrgghh!! we found out a week ago that the lovely house we've been in for 12 months and planned to be in another 12 mkonths will no longer be rented so we have to move!! and by june 14th!! so if I'm a bit quiet again you know it's cause my head has been packed in a box along with everything else we own - again!! have not found anoyhting yet but hoping on good news today.
we also celebrated Leroys 5th birthday on sunday - we threw a pirate themed dress up party for about 30 of his school buddies. it was crazy but only for 2 hours on sunday arvo - was heaps of fun really. no photos yet as all still on camera.

Salvador Dali. We are to take inspiration from this painting "Landscape with Butterflies".

This is what I did for this months challenge..... hmmmm.... what is it with blogger uploading these layouts sideways... very odd.

I was very inspired by the colours in the Dali painting... I tried to carry that through on my layout, the Kaiser Craft Esperance range was perfect for this. I also wanted to use a photo that was a bit surreal and I just love this one of my little man's toes when he was just 4 months old. For the butterflies I have stamped them with Staz On ink onto a transparency and cut them out, then secured them to my layout with a gold brad. I also swiped the background paper with a silver ink pad as an attempt of recreating the silvery & white clouds in the painting.

and of course some detail shots... can never get enough of detail shots, lol

I've had my mum & her hubby visiting this past week or so... was so tops to see them, it's been almost a year. The boys just adored having Nanna here as much as she did.... so cute. Have so many amazing piccies to share but that will be next time (or in an upcoming layout *wink* ) as I have not even got them off the camera yet!! :0

Had a couple of exciting things happen tho... I was asked to join the Creative Team for the ARTastic challenge blog. I was so stoked when Ally asked me to join, I love the concept that she's come up with.. something a bit different. This months artist is Dali, you can see it here. I have not done it yet (so naughty) but I've been so busy with mum... they just left yesterday and I'm slowly getting back into my normal routine! It's nearing the top of my To-Do list!

I also found out I won a prize for this layout in the 123 challenge for April!!!! how cool is that!? first one I've done for them in over a year too - me thinks I better do some more. lol. Can't wait to spend the voucher too... been on a major scrap spending diet (man that sucks doesn't it?!)

Also on my to-do list though is getting through this months DT pack for LSBS (which has some very yummy new American Crafts things in it and which I did some of today) and organising a Pirate Themed Birthday Party for my big boy who is turning 5 on the 24th. OMG 5 years!!!!!!!!!!!

The other day while blog hopping I came across a new challenge blog called ARTtastic... it's tops!! Go check it out. Basically each month they will post up a painting by one of the great artists and you use it as inspiration for your layout. This months is this painting by Gustav Klimt - who was always one of my faves... maybe that's what got me so interested.

I have got the mojo happening right now... must be taking my mind of the pain a bit I think. I have been feeling better though... hubby has taught me some stretches which are helping heaps. Also working up to do my hydro-therapy program in another month or so.
anyways this is what I've been up to....

This is for this months White with 1 challenge (link in side bare over there ------>) this is the first time I have done this one and it was a tricky colour combo too... white & coral. Who knew I would have so much coral coloured stuff in my stash?! This is what I pulled out to use...

Just did this one last night for this months 123 challenge (link also in side bar) It's been YONKS since I did one, thought it was about time! Very happy with how it turned out too... isn't he just a big sook?! lol

I've been making sure I make time in my day every day lately to do even just a little bit of scrapping, it makes me feel so much better. Here's what I've done lately...

This first one was all I managed to get done for the Enchanted Scrapbooking CC.... love how it turned out.

These two were for challenges at our CC at LSBS.... gosh that was a funny CC!!!

This one is for the monthly sketch challenge over at Scrap Therapy. You also had to incorporate 'chocolate' into the layout somehow either in the pics or colours or with words....

The good news is that I was invited to be part of the Enchanted Scrapbooking Design Team. :)

The bad news is that I am unable to continue with the position for the time being for reasons outlined in the post the other day about my Kaiser DT application. To be fair on everyone I thought it better to speak up now as I felt I wouldn't be able to hold up my end of the bargain. I'm a bit sad about it now (actually very sad) but I did what I did... :(

Also sad about not working with, the other DT member, the very talented Tiff Sawyer who I have just discovered as a result of all of this.... but I can still watch what she gets up to :)

I simply adore their kits and just can't wait to see what the future holds for them. I wish Jodi and Tracey all the best. (((hugs))) girls. :) And thanks so much for inviting me to be part of your team and I'm sorry it didn't work out.

I've been creating today

trying to catch up on the 52 pick up challenges at LSBS.... I was 5 behind out of 15. this is what I've done today... only 3 more to go now and I'll be up to date.... pretty sure I can manage that by the time next weeks challenge goes up!

this challenge was to use a not so perfect photo... it's not supposed to be sideways.... hmmm, but you get the idea! lol

this challenge was to use minimal journalling, lots of white space, buttons and no PP...

this is the journal that was challenge 7 to hold all the challenges... I did a bit of a re-vamp of it yesterday now it's working for me!

A couple of pics from a very excited Leroy (the Easter Bunny was a clever cookie and put the eggs in his room in a cooler bag with a frozen popper so they would not melt in the heat) and a 'couldn't really care less' Isaac (who has had conjunctivitis caught from his brother, that's why his eyes look so swollen)... hope you have a wonderful Easter. We had quite a sleep in today, compared to last year anyway! Leroy woke screaming for Mummy at 5.30; he'd had a bad dream and thought I was moving back to our old house without him. Sad huh? Not sure what that's about. I gave him a big cuddle for half hour and he drifted back off to sleep, then he came into our bed forgetting to check his room first! He eventually dragged us up after 7 to go hunting!

But I deserve that little sleep in... this is what happened last year!!! Isaac was only about 3 months old and still night waking so Leroy was having disturbed nights sleep anyway... but on the night before Easter he was just so darn excited that it took him *hours* to go to sleep in the first place, and as the Easter Bunny came in the middle of the night (I think I saw a glimpse of him while I was up breastfeeding ) Leroy saw his haul in his room about 2am. He had just discovered that there was a couple of tiny eggs on his dresser in his egg cup... well they went in a flash. I thought 'oh well, no biggie' and he did go back to sleep... or so I thought. About an hour later I was awoken not by a crying bubba but by dim light in my face.... Leroy was up and hunting through his room for more eggs... it was 3am and he had found more that had been hidden in amoung the toys... I told him he had to wait till morning and to go to sleep. I laid with him till he went to sleep but was awoken again at about 4.30 by more light and when I went into his room - well tried - I couldn't get in... he had been having a little floor picnic at 4.30am with his choc eggs and had fallen asleep on the floor behind the door - I assume so we wouldn't bust him in the act!! - having had his fill. Of course I had to snap a photo of the evidence after removing him from the floor! Too funny!

lookie what I got...

I have been dreaming of a digi SLR for years and it's gonna be another few years before I can afford one I think... but thanks to Kevin 07 we decided to go and buy a new point and shoot - the best one we could afford. So happy with our choice too.... have only had it a week and have taken almost 300 photos - most of them amazing- granted we did go away on holidays in that time but still!! Here's what she looks like....

mmmmmm 10 mega pixels... can't wait to see what that looks like when I get some pics printed! and such a lovely big screen. the colours are awesome too!

and it takes the most amazing macro shots... I have a bit of addiction of taking really close shots of any piece of foliage I can find... this one was a weed on the side of the road in the middle of nowhere (well actually about half way between Katherine & Darwin) - we had to stop for a little boy loo stop! So gorgeous isn't it?

Have so many more gorgeous photos to share.... be back sometime soon with those.

my Kaisercraft DT application

which I've decided NOT to enter :(

To cut a long story short, I have had a major flare up of my back pain... we went away to Katherine for a few days and I'm sure the activity and crap bed didn't help. Also in Dec I was also diagnosed with PND, something which I have wanted to share with you all, but didn't quite know how. Anyway I'm not coping very well with the pain, and made another trip to the drs today in sheer desperation and have been put on some pretty heavy drugs for the next few days to calm me down a bit and allow my body time to heal. Then I'll be starting a rehab program to try and get rid of this pesky pain once and for all. Well truth be told, I'm sure it'll be something I'll always have to deal with but the hope is if I make my body stronger I'll have less major flare ups. Helps having a hubby who is training to be a personal trainer - he is very motivated to help me. Oh how I love him.

Anyways, I've decided, after much soul searching and more than a tear or two shed, that I have to scale back my obligations. So not going to be applying for another one (The Kasier one) as much as I *LOVE* the brand and would really love to be on the DT, I think me and my health and that of my family has to come first. So this is what I spent many, many hours preparing for the application.... it's a shame really I am very happy with what I did.

the double layout... as soon as I saw these papers I knew thye would be perfect for a trip we did to a local croc park... love how it turned out...

and the layout about me... funny thing about this is... the only reason I bit the bullet and went and got my hair cut off was that I had to be the subject matter of this layout... I didn't have any nice photos of me so went and got my hair cut and straightened and got hubby to take some nice photos of me, went and got 'em printed, scrapped 'em all in the name of a DT application which I'm not going ahead with!! LOL. at least I got a nice new do and some nice photos (and layout) out of it!! Dag aren't I? lol

SO now I just need to believe in myself, as I've told everyone here and get on top of this pain! Thanks for visiting and any comments you have. (I need a hug or 2 so feel free to leave me some love!)

Last week I reached my 20kg weight loss goal and I decided it was about time for a makeover, and here is the new look me!

Feeling pretty good, although not loving how the humidity is treating my hair - it's needs straightening every day! As if I have time for that!

today I finally (but only cause mathew was hoggin my puter playing puter games!! lol) got around to copying hundreds and hundreds of photos of our old PC (which is still set up in another room - mathew uses it for his study) When we got this new one in Sept I just never got around to going back to the old one and getting the photos or even saving my address book from my email. *shameful I know* but it's done now - now to trawl thru all those photos and do some archiving and get some more pics prinmted! while cleaning up the pics folder I found this bunch of photos that I had re-sized for blog sharing over the past year or so... a trip down memory lane....

He's been teething with 6 new teeth, one of which has been infected, he fell over twice, once banged his head by falling off the lounge onto tiles, the other put his top teeth thru his bottom lip, then we discovered he had a mouth full of ulcers. getting better now with some anti-biotics... I can see the light at the end of the tunnel! poor little fella :(

Been loving my DT packs lately... well always do LOL but lately I have been very inspired by them. Last month we got 2 sheets of paper form 2 different ranges from KI and had to do one layout from each range, then another one with the leftovers... this is what I did.

and here is a couple of the layouts I've done with the divine Basic Grey Marrakech range... both this and the KI available in the fab LSBS shop

Have been a bit MIA this week... I've been very sick with what I thought was a flu (which is bad enough in this heat) but it turns out it's mastitis. Yep still breatfeeding my hungry little boob luvin man :) so feeling very sorry for myself right now. ouchie.
but anyway.... lol... here is some more of the stuff I've done over the last few weeks... been digging deep into my scrap stash and using stuff I've had for yonks. I love that!

For the next 2 layouts I have used up some of those freebie postcards you pick up with the intention of using but never seem to get aorund to... have only about 20 more to use now, lol. but these were the cutest...

I was very impatient and ended up ordering this before I went to bed last night... (also got the matching banner - all for US $3.00!) But I fiddled round for hours and can't work out how to get it the right size. arrrggghhh! was up till after midnight doing it and, now for the time being at least I GIVE UP!! Me thinks I might need to push buying Adobe Photoshop higher up my wish list!

Well I've spent the best part of this evening fiddling round with the settings on here, and the more I look at the background I chose the more I actually don't like it! I stumbled across this tonight while blog hopping and think I might buy one. It's called Blog Couture designed by Rhonna Farrer... she's one of my fave designers. They are US$1.50 each which I reckon is fine ;)

so which one do you like???

I like this one or this one or this one. well actually I like them all which is the problem!! plus then there is the matching banners, which some I love but then not so fussed on the backgrounds!! help! I think I might sleep on it... but please give me your opinion! thanks :)

I AM THE WOMAN!!

I just got back from my weekly Weight Watchers meeting and am feeling rather pleased with myself. I was a bit nervous about what the scales would say this week as I had a bit of a sweet tooth eat-a-thon last weekend (that time of the month) but I got back on track on Monday and have been good all week, even trying to save a few points each day - which I've managed most days. It paid off and I had a loss of 1kg this week. That means I have now made my next goal of under 85kg and I have now lost a total of 19.1kg, so next week I hope to make (or come very close to) my 20kg total loss goal which means I'll be able to go and get a new Murano glass charm for my Pandora (my first one - I got the bracelet itself as my 15kg reward and will get a glass charm for each 5kg) Doing a little happy dance here let me tell you!! Happy me. weeeeeeeeeeeeeeee :)

Also just thought I'd share this photo that Leroy took of me the other day - not the most flattering one esp with only half a head! lol... he just grabbed the camera and clicked before I could stop him. I was expecting the worst from this angle... thinking fat double chin. But I was pleasantly surprised when I saw it (and hence didn't delete it - will add to my journal)

my chicken & roasted vegie pasta salad

Just wanted to share this recipe with you all. I've been trying really hard lately to make our meals more cheaply. I am also doing Weight Watchers (and have so far lost 18kg - woohoo!) and while it can be a tad expensive to buy some of the lower fat items, if you eat less food it costs less to buy!!! lol. Anyway one of the things I've been doing for a few weeks now is buying a whole chicken from Lenards ($9.99) which I buy fresh the day I want to cook it. We used to throw out so much leftover chicken 3 days later as a whole chook is much too much for us. So I've been coming up with ways to use the leftovers... this is my current favourite. So firstly I dry roast a heap of vegies... things like sweet potato, beetroot, mushrooms, capsicum, and tomatoe. For those doing WW as well, this whole tray is only 1/2 point - that's just the sweet potato. I do the tomato to add a bit of moisture to the dish when it's all added together with the pasta. Usually this amount of veg I would use for Mathew and I but as he was out when I made this, and I was starving I ended up eating most of it myself!! But all point free so it's cool!

Cook your pasta shapes... in this one I used Penne. For those doing WW it's 2.5 points for 50g dry pasta which is heaps once you add all the vegies and chicken. Then shred 50g of the leftover chicken (1.5 points) and add the whole lot together in your serving bowl. I mush up the tomatoes a bit too let the juices out. Add some chopped continental parsely and season and yummmo!! All that for 4.5 points.!! :)

This is too funny and too cute not to share right away! This is Isaac tonight having his orange while Leroy and I ate our dinner (Mathew was out). I was thinking 'he must be enjoying that - he's so quiet' When I went to check this is what I saw! Lucky I keep the camera on the kitchen bench hey?! I think he didn't want to touch it with his hands cause it was so cold from being in the fridge. Funny boy. :)

wow can't believe I have actually found the time to do this! welcome to my new blog... I have been thinking the last couple of weeks that I really needed to start a freebie blog, rather than my Typepad one. It did serve me well and I do so love the ability to upload and organise my work into folders but to be quite honest I didn't actually get around to doing any of that in 2008!

So here we are! Will start the ball rolling with some recent DT work for LSBS. In a recent kit I got the Daisy Bucket Boy Oh Boy and had lots of fun playing... this is what I did.
